The Istrian region inspired Omer Berber to design the
interior of each of Istria Nuova villas.
Who is Omer Berber?
Omer is an architect and a painter, who has created and designed the interiors of and furniture for many hotels and other significant buildings. He studied architecture in Ljubljana, Slovenia and painting in the atelier of Mersad Berber. Omer has won many awards for painting and architecture. He lives and works in Italy, where he was the art director of the Italian furniture company Selva.
Omer has created hotel interiors and furniture for major hotels world-wide.
He designed: the reconstruction and interiors of The Savoy Hotel in Moscow, Russia; a part of the interior of the Metropol Hotel in Moscow, Russia; the Hotel Mozart in Opatija, Croatia; the interiors of the Hotel Astoria in Zagreb, Croatia; the Abha tourist complex in Saudi Arabia; and many hotels in Austria, Germany and Italy. Omer has also designed many major commercial and residential buildings, including: in Baghdad, Iraq, he designed the “Iraqi House of Fashion” building, which today serves as the Ministry of Culture; in Algiers, Algeria, he worked with five architects from the former Yugoslavia on a residential complex of 18,000 residences at Oran-Tuwaita Zhun 2 in Algiers, Algeria and Banja Luka, Bosnia and Hercegovina, he designed the “Stara Carsija” shopping center including restaurants and cafes.
Omer’s paintings have been shown in many independent and collective exhibits world wide.
His main independent exhibits were in: Austria (Salzburg); Holland (Amsterdam); Italy (Bolzano and Vipitenu); Slovenia (Maribor); Switzerland (both Geneva and Zurich); Serbia (Belgrade); Bosnia and Hercegovina (Sarajevo, Banja Luka, and Bihac); Russia (Moscow); Japan (Tokio, Kobe, Sapporo, Hiroshima); and Algeria (Tunis). His paintings were in the collective exhibit entitled “Sephardi”, that toured in Toledo, Spain, Vienna, Austria, Tel Aviv, Israel and Paris, France; and in the collective exhibit of Bosnian art, toured in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Istanbul, Turkey.
